Making a Difference

Our Impact & Programs

What We Do

Throughout the academic year, the Wood River PTA organizes and funds numerous programs, events, and initiatives that directly benefit the students and staff at Wood River Elementary. We are proud to provide the following programs for our community:

  • Backpack Program: We ensure that food insecure children are provided nourishment outside school hours.
  • Fall and Spring Book Fair: A week-long book exhibition hosted in the library in partnership with Scholastic. The fall book fair is hosted during the same week as grandparents day, so grandparents have a chance to attend the book fair with their grandchildren. The spring book fair is hosted during open house so families can experience the book fair together.
  • Fall Fest: We host a free Halloween-themed community event with games, trunk-or-treat, music, and food.
  • Penguin Patch: A holiday-themed store where kids can shop for friends and family.
  • PTA T-Shirts: We provide dress code approved spirit shirts for students.
  • School Supplies: We coordinate with a one-stop shop vendor to offer parents school supplies for the year, making back-to-school shopping easier.
  • Spring Fling: A free community school event hosted by the PTA that includes food and activities for the whole family.
  • Yearbook: We create a yearbook to capture memories of our students and teachers for families to cherish.
